Scarce 1616 Atocha Potosi 8 Real Grade 1 Philip III Assayer M Silver Shipwreck
EARLY ATOCHA 1995 DISCOVERY SILVER PIECES OF EIGHT'8 REALES. Monarch: Phillip III , Assayer M. For a lmost 34 years I was Blessed as small part of Mel & Della Fisher's 1 3 year quest for the Wreck of the Spanish Galleon , Nuestra Señora de Atocha; and then later as a small direct participant in Treasure Salvors. Mel was a w arm, hard-working genuine person. He worked (as does his dedicated staff & crew) to points of total exhaustion. I still t o this day, miss Dirk , Angel, Mel and Della, but their great achievements live on in these hard fought for relics & thousands of Personal testimonials. This silver 8 REALES Pieces of Eight Spanish coin was hand minted in Potosi, Peru and dated before 1622 - features including possibly parts of the date visible on the coin. Mel, his family and team gave life & limb, and are genuinely credited with developing premier methods to find lost wrecks, gave hope to other salvors, and were as much salvors as e xpert archaeologists. These PHILLIP III "Pieces of Eight" were traded in Colonial America, and the Spanish 8 Reals Coin is credited as the forefather of our US Silver Dollars. Each coin is unique in that it has a specific denomination, condition, a ssayer, Monarch, and mint mark. W e NEVER deal in coins that are in any way re-productions. Some shops made re-strikes with "Atocha silver, " and that's NOT these or US! These are some of the first coins salvaged in 1995 from the wreck. I was in Key West in 1985 when I was a 3rd Year student at UVa, and Treasure Salvors Found the Mother Lode. These coins are by all standards sacred as they laid upon the floor of the R ebecca Shoals, Florida Straits for almost 374 years!! Take a moment and think about what it will mean for you to hold almost 400 years of S panish & New World Maritime History in your hands. They belong in the right hands just as Della , Dirk & Mel Would want. THIS PIECE HAS A HIGH GRADE ONE(1) from Treasure Salvors Inc.
With Documents of Authenticity for this coin from the sunken Spanish galleon Nuestra Señora de Atocha. Included with the coin is the original holder, and the coin card depicting the detailed specifications.
