Atocha Period Spanish 8 Reales Silver Treasure Coin Double Struck 14k Gold Bezel 3.5g. 3.5G (MINUS CHAIN) weight pertains to coin & bezel only. Double-struck 8 reales coin of Atocha period. It was struck in Potosi, Peru (now Bolivia) during the office of Assayer T, Juan Jimenez de Tapia, who was mint assayer from 1618 until well beyond the sinking of the 1622 fleet. It is O over VIII, though the V is somewhat squashed into the shield.
